No. Unfortunately, our add-ins do not work with Apple/Mac.

In recent years, Microsoft started blocking files by default that are downloaded from the internet or from another computer in an effort to increase security. The user is notified when regular file extensions (.xlsx and .pptx) are downloaded, but there is no warning with add-ins extensions (.xlam/.xla and .ppam/.ppa). However, there are several actions you can take to make these useable:

Per Microsoft:

For PowerPoint Add-in files:

  • Remove Mark of the Web from the .ppa or .ppam file.
  • Use a digital signature and trust the publisher.
  • Save the Add-in file to a Trusted Location for users to retrieve.

For Excel Add-in files:

  • Remove Mark of the Web from the .xla or .xlam file.
  • Save the Add-in file to a Trusted Location for users to retrieve.

Note: Using a digital signature and trusting the publisher doesn't work for Excel Add-in files that have Mark of the Web. This behavior isn't new for Excel Add-in files that have Mark of the Web. It's worked this way since 2016, as a result of a previous security hardening effort (related to Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-088).

Here is a helpful video I found explaining several of these options in action.

Once you have installed your add-in from the installer. We recommend installing in the default location:
Drive:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Addins\

  1. Open the Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint) application.
  2. Click the File tab, click Options, and then click the Add-Ins category.
  3. In the Manage box, click Excel Add-ins (PowerPoint Add-ins for PowerPoint), and then click Go...
Note: If you cannot find the add-in that you want to activate in the Add-ins available box, you may need to re-install it.
  4. The Add-Ins dialog box should pop up. In the Add-ins available box (Available add-ins for PowerPoint), select the check box next to the add-in that you want to activate, and then click OK (Excel) or Load (PowerPoint).
  5. You should now see your SizzleTools Add-in added to the ribbon.
